We are delighted to announce we are donating 75 of our oak saplings to commemorate 75 years since we first opened our doors to the public.
As part of our year-long legacy campaign, we'll be giving our precious saplings to a wide range of individuals, charities, schools, and organisations. What makes this particularly special is that our saplings are typically kept exclusively within our grounds, marking a very rare opportunity to own a piece of our Estate.
Blenheim Palace and Estate houses what's believed to be the largest collection of ancient oak trees in Europe, with some of these magnificent specimens dating back to around 1000AD.
Since 2016, our dedicated forestry team has been meticulously collecting acorns to ensure these trees' legacy continues for centuries to come. By using our own stock, we're taking extra precautions to protect against external infection and disease.
As our head forester Nick Baimbridge explains, "We're extremely proud of our program of propagating and protecting seedlings grown from acorns produced by the original oaks, which aims to ensure the legacy of these great survivors will live on for many years to come."
"We've named this initiative Blenheim Branches Out and I believe it perfectly embodies our commitment to preserving the past while protecting the future."
Sustainability is at the core of everything we do here at Britain's Greatest Palace and we're excited to offer this unique opportunity for people to own a special piece of our Estate.
Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months, when we'll be announcing the recipients of these extraordinary saplings.
