Our purpose and commitment to you

At Blenheim Palace, we are deeply grateful for the generosity of our supporters. Your contributions help us preserve a UNESCO World Heritage Site, protect centuries of history, and ensure that future generations can experience the wonder of this extraordinary place.

Our Purpose

Our purpose, which runs through everything we do, is to be the lifeblood of the local economy, to enhance the lives of local people and to share and protect this extraordinary place for the public benefit. Our current fundraising priority is the Roof Restoration Project.

We also exist to:

  • Protect and preserve Blenheim Palace and its estate for future generations.
  • Celebrate and share our rich heritage, culture, and natural environment.
  • Inspire and engage communities through education, access, and storytelling.
  • Champion sustainability and innovation in conservation.

Our long-term goals are explained in our 10 year plan.

Our Commitment to You

As a donor, you can expect:

  • Transparency We will be clear about how your gift is used and the impact it makes.
  • Respect We will treat you with courtesy, confidentiality, and care, regardless of the size or nature of your gift.
  • Recognition We will acknowledge your support appropriately and offer opportunities to see the difference you make.
  • Choice You can choose how and where your gift is directed, and whether or how you wish to be publicly recognised.
  • Stewardship We will manage your gift responsibly, ethically, and in line with our charitable objectives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Blenheim Palace remains the home of the Marlborough family, but caring for a World Heritage Site of this scale is far beyond the means of any private household. The Blenheim Palace Heritage Foundation was established as a separate registered charity (Charity Number 1166164) in 2016 to ensure that all funds raised from admissions charges and donations are reinvested in vital restoration and conservation projects.

Blenheim is more than a palace – it’s a living piece of history and a World Heritage Site. Caring for a 300-year-old building and its vast estate requires constant restoration and conservation. We receive no government funding, so every gift helps protect priceless heritage, conserve fragile artworks, and safeguard nature for future generations.

Ticket sales keep the doors open, but major projects – like roof restoration, stonework repairs, and biodiversity initiatives – need additional support. These are long-term commitments to history, not one-time fixes.

Your generosity helps:

  • Protect Blenheim Palace and Estate – urgent roof repairs and conservation of historic features.
  • Open Up Access to Heritage – welcoming schools, families, and underserved communities.
  • Safeguard Nature and Biodiversity – caring for rare wildlife and ancient landscapes.
  • Inspire Future Generations – through exhibitions, education, and storytelling.

Yes. From Queen Anne’s original gift to the Duke of Marlborough, to opening the Palace to the public in 1950 for roof repairs, private support has always been vital. Today, initiatives like Sign a Slate continue this tradition.

You can make a difference today by donating. If you would like to discuss sponsorship opportunities or transformative gifts, please contact us.

Donations of any size can turn you into a Guardian, preserving Blenheim Palace for generations to come.
