Caring For A Living Landscape

Caring For A
Living Landscape

Your support for the Gardens helps the ongoing work across the Estate

The Gardens at Blenheim Palace are a living work of art, shaped by history and sustained by careful stewardship. Designed to be both beautiful and resilient, the landscape continues to evolve while remaining rooted in centuries of craft, horticultural skill and thoughtful conservation.

As a charity, Blenheim Palace is grateful for the support of those who care about its Gardens and historic environment. This support helps ensure that the landscape can be enjoyed by today’s visitors while being responsibly protected for future generations.

How your support helps care for the Gardens

Your support for the Gardens helps the ongoing work across the estate, often carried out quietly behind the scenes. This includes skilled horticulture, careful restoration, and long-term planning that balance heritage, sustainability, the ambition to become net zero, and our guests’ enjoyment.

One example of this care can be found within the Walled Garden, home to the Blenheim Estate Garden, where fruit, vegetables and herbs are grown for use across the estate in the Orangery, Stables Café, Oxfordshire Pantry and Pizzeria.

This year, your support could help transform these spaces:

Creating places to pause and reflect

The Bothy Pond is being carefully restored to create a sheltered garden space within the wider landscape. Using timber sourced from the Estate, the project includes a new summerhouse, planting, seating and improved paths. This work encourages visitors to explore a quieter part of the Gardens and to spend time enjoying the setting.

Restoring colour and historic planting

Work at the Temple of Flora is focused on recreating the flower garden that once surrounded this historic feature. Inspired by nineteenth-century descriptions of rich scent and seasonal colour, the project brings heritage planting back into the landscape while creating a vibrant place for visitors to experience the Gardens at their most expressive.

Regeneration within the Rosarium

The Rosarium is undergoing phased restoration to allow rose beds to recover and regenerate. Temporary planting provides seasonal interest while important groundwork prepares the area for the return of roses. This careful approach reflects a long-term vision for diversity, structure and resilience within the Gardens.

Support the Gardens

Your support helps to care for Blenheim Palace Gardens as a living landscape. Whether contributing to planting, conservation, habitat management, or the creation of spaces to enjoy the view, your support helps sustain an environment constantly shaped by time, seasons, and skilled hands.
