New sculpture to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill's birth

We are pleased to announce the unveiling of a new sculpture entitled 'Winston Churchill Painting' by artist Paul Rafferty.  The statue is permanently on display on the South Lawn.

The life-size bronze sculpture was crafted using the ancient lost wax process. This traditional and complex method allowed Rafferty to create a detailed piece that captures the spirit of Churchill’s love for painting. The sculpture features a canvas of Churchill’s painting of the Palace called Through the Branches of a Cedar, which was recreated in bas relief in clay. The position of the sculpture is exactly where Churchill would have set his easel up to paint at his beloved Blenheim Palace. The tribute honours Churchill's deep connection to Blenheim, his birthplace and also the location of his engagement to Clementine Hozier.
