Ghosts, Gossip and Secrets in Servants' Tales

A daily tour, taking place in our Life Below Stairs exhibition, brings to life the stories, secrets and scandals of Blenheim’s servants, the men and women who kept the Palace running while remaining largely unseen.

Along the way, you’ll also encounter the ghostly happenings whispered through the years, adding a thrilling edge to history.

Servants saw and heard everything. From royal romances and runaway lovers to whispered intrigues and household dramas, no secret escaped their notice.

You’ll hear spine‑tingling tales passed down through generations: bells that ring without reason, doors that close on their own and glasses that shatter at the very moment of death. And of course, the chilling story of the Dusting Nanny, said to still walk the corridors she once cared for.
