Stables Tower and surrounding parapets

Architecturally, the Stable Court Tower is a mirror image of the Kitchen Courtyard Clock Tower, without the clock mechanism and clock faces.

There are several areas of spalling stonework caused as a result of embedded ironwork which is corroding – prior to works commencing we had removed a number of large fragments for safety reasons. In October 2021, a large fragment of one of the stone ball finials detached and fell onto the lead roof which has raised concerns over the health and safety of visitors below. A number of large fragments were subsquently removed prior to works commencing.

This project was carried out between 2022 - November 2023 and cost £900,000.
