I started the apprenticeship straight from school after my GCSE exams.
What made you apply for an apprenticeship?
I applied for an apprenticeship because after doing lots of research I found that I could work whilst learning and studying towards a professional finance qualification.
Ever since I was little, I have had fond memories of Blenheim as I regularly visited Blenheim Palace and attended many of their public events with my parents. When looking around for different apprenticeships I noticed that Blenheim was very popular, and they were planning to increase the number of apprentices they employ each year. I found the information regarding current apprentices showed that Blenheimwas a supportive and positive place to work, which really appealed to me.
My key role currently is to process all the orders for Blenheim water plant, upload invoices for the purchase ledger, chase debtors and other tasks assigned to me by my mentor and line manager.
What do you like best about the job?
I love this job role as it is helping me to work towards a career I am really excited about in Finance. I love the responsibilities I have been given as it makes me feel like an important member of the team, as I am included in everything. I appreciate how welcoming and supportive all the staff were right from the beginning, especially within the current COVID restrictions. Blenheim ensured that it did not affect my start.
How are you finding the apprenticeship and how is it helping you progress?
So far, the apprenticeship has been enjoyable, considering I have only been working for a month I feel like I have been working there for much longer. Within the space of a month, I have learnt a great deal. Doing the work and then learning more about it in college is a great way to learn.
What do you hope to gain and once your apprenticeship has finished?
At the end of my apprenticeship, I hope to fully understand the role of a Finance Accountant as well as achievegrades that can help me with my future, hopefully remaining with Blenheim Palace.
