The General Children's Tour

A general children’s tour is available for school groups of all ages.

This general tour of the Palace gives an insight into life at Blenheim Palace during the 300 years since the Palace was built.

Our Education Team is brimming with knowledge and facts about the Palace and its history, so we encourage students (and teachers!) to ask lots of questions and get involved.

What the day involves

Your group will be met on arrival by a member of our Education Team, who will lead the tour. The experience lasts approximately 45 minutes.

The tour covers topics including:

  • Why and when the Palace was built for the 1st Duke of Marlborough
  • The Duchesses who have lived here and how they have shaped the family’s history
  • The 8th Duke who ‘electrified’ the Palace and installed an early telephone system
  • How the Palace has been a hospital, a boy’s school and the headquarters of MI5
  • Winston Churchill (a member of the family), his birth at the Palace and his connections to the Dukes of Marlborough.

After this, your group is free to explore the Parkland and Gardens, including the Pleasure Gardens.
