Churchill Painting Class Information

The class will be held by local Woodstock artist Rod Craig on August 24th from 11am to 4pm. The class will meet at the Stables Cafe and will be held in the Formal Gardens (exact location TBC), with stunning views of the Great Lake where Churchill himself painted.

Rod Craig lives and works in Woodstock – his walks in the Parkland each morning are a constant source of inspiration for the landscape paintings that he is best known for. He has work in collections in the UK, Germany and New York and exhibits regularly with galleries and art fairs.

Admission is £35 per person for non Pass holders, and £30 for existing Pass holders. To claim the discount please get in touch with our Customer service team via customerservice@blenheimpalace.com or by calling 01993 810530. Tickets can only be booked in advance online.

Please note that food and drink is not included, and we politely ask that you bring your own painting equipment. Please see reccomendations from the artist on what to bring below.

Recommended materials

Watercolour paint in tubes or pans, a couple of good size brushes (one at least 10mm wide) and watercolour paper (A3 or larger) and an appropriate sized drawing board. We reccomend Khadi paper as it has a good textured surface (it’s very reasonably priced and available from art shops or online).

A water container, plus something to mix paint in, like a watercolour palette or old pots. A small water spray can be really useful along with some kitchen paper.

Chairs will be provided for working on your knee. This is fine for up to A3 size. For larger paintings, best to bring a lightweight easel.
