Wildlife News: Lambing Season
Lambing at Blenheim Palace is almost over now. We have had a good lambing season despite some unseasonably cold weather. Every spring around 2500 lambs are born within Blenheim Park. Our two brilliant shepherds with help from two assistants work day and night to make sure this goes as smoothly as possible. At Blenheim we lamb later than most farms. We do this because we lamb outdoors and the weather needs to be warmer. We believe outdoor lambing is a more natural way to lamb and leads to less stress for the ewes. The pictures show some lambs enjoying the warm sun and annoying their mum for milk!
