Garden Tours

The stunning parkland and exquisite formal gardens at Blenheim Palace have so much to offer and Special Garden Tours are now available for groups to explore the Gardens and grounds and discover their history. From the ornate fountains in the Water Terraces and Lakeside Walks to the elegant Rose Garden and recently restored Secret Garden, there is something for anyone with a love of gardens and gardening.

Gardening enthusiasts will get a fascinating insight into the Blenheim Palace Gardens as they are now and were in years gone by. The Park was landscaped in the 1760’s by ‘Capability’ Brown, and is hailed as one of his greatest achievements. It is one of the main reasons that the Palace and Park was created a World Heritage site in 1987. The 2,100 acres of sweeping Parkland and formal gardens provide an awe-inspiring setting for Britain’s Greatest Palace.

The day begins at 10.30am with coffee and biscuits in the Indian Room, followed by a two-hour tour with one of our garden experts, Nigel Benfield. The tour covers the South Lawn, Secret Garden and Rose Garden with a talk on the developments of the Water Terraces given by Blenheim Palace Education Officer and Historian, Karen Wiseman.

Most of the gardens tell a story and the Arboretum is no exception. This beautiful spot is where Sir Winston Churchill proposed to Clementine Hozier in the Temple of Diana. The Secret Garden boasts magnificent mature trees along side new planting, water features, and a twisting stream and here you can pick up excellent tips from your Guide as to how to recreate Blenheim’s floral successes in your own garden!
