  • Education Manager

    A rare opportunity has arisen for an Education Manager to join our team at Blenheim Palace.


    You will be PGCE qualified with experience teaching in either a primary school or secondary school. Keeping up to date with the National Curriculum, you will develop new teaching programmes for schools in line with new developments and create new resources for use with school groups.


    Key responsibilities: 

    • Teach the various education groups who visit the Palace
    • Ensure the efficient and accurate booking and administration of education visits
    • Develop and maintain close working relationships with the local primary, secondary special needs schools and departments
    • Run the work experience programme
    • Administer and run the Winston Spencer-Churchill public speaking programme and competition
    • Train the Palace Guides in all educational tours
    • Liaise with the Marketing Team to develop the Education section of the website
    • Research, write and give a variety of talks and tours to visiting adult groups and groups/ societies off site
    • Assist with speech writing
    • Research new projects to support the Operations Department such as exhibitions and new interpretation
    • Research and answer external and internal historical enquiries
    • Develop and maintain a detailed historical knowledge of the Palace, Park and Gardens and the Marlborough family
    • Maintain the overall quality of the educational provision at the Palace by entering for the Sandford Award
    • Maintain a close working relationship with the Education Officers from the other houses in the Treasure Houses group
    • Continue to support the work of the Historic Houses Education service 


    The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working in a heritage environment or a museum. You must have an understanding of research processes and possess good IT skills. A flexible attitude is a must as often the Education team has to respond to requests from all parts of the Estate as well as schools and visitors.
